Information

You can help us out by submitting information we're missing, or have mis-entered into the database. To do so, mail morgenes@dhorizon.org with the set, unit # and stats you are writing in about.

Pictures

We are still missing pictures for many of the Limited units for the Dark Ages set. Click here for a current list.

For general help on how to take pictures for MechWarrior: Armies, check out our Picture Taking Tips Page. Once you've digested that, come back here for specific instructions on how to take pictures for us.

As was noted on the Picture Tips Page, use a white backdrop. I use a plain, white pillow case as its easily accessible and about the right size. The lighting technique described is also very important for preventing shadowing on the units.

It is also very important that you always take the picture without moving the camera, and that the unit only rotates, and doesn't move otherwise on the backdrop. To do this, use a tripod, and leave it set in the same place, and use the guide below and turn it, not the unit.

How Many Pictures are Needed?

Basically we need twelve pictures of each unit. Labelled rot01 - rot12 (rotation 1 - rotation 12). Rotation 1 needs to be the front or slightly turned view that is default loaded.

The easiest way to do this is to print out the printing guide below and put it underneath your unit, with the unit facing the camera and the number '1'. Then, as you take pictures, turn the paper so that the next number is facing the camera.

Look at the following images for an example (Click on each for a larger version):

Image Composition

Using our unit pictures as a guide, try and place the unit so that it is the center of the picture. Try and keep white-space to a minimum, let the unit be the majority of the picture.

Image Sizes per Unit Type

The size of each image should be reduced to the following dimensions. If you are unable to do this, you can send the larger images, just realize it will take longer for us to post the pictures if we have to adjust them.

Unit Type Example Image Size
Infantry

Vehicles

Cleanup

If you have the time and talent, feel free to clean up the images, removing the guide and other abberations from the pictures. I use Photoshop 7.0's magnetic lasso to outline the unit, and then copy & paste it into a new picture.

If you want, you can send the pictures as is and we can resize and clean them up for you. If you have any more questions or suggestions about this page, feel free to mail morgenes@dhorizon.org.
